A World-class Research and Innovation Facility
The GSK Human Performance Lab is a specialist research facility focused on understanding and extending human athletic potential through nutritional science. It was the first facility of its kind in the Northern Hemisphere.
The lab supports research into the limits of physical and cognitive performance, with a particular focus on nutrition. Areas of study include strength, stamina, cognition, hydration, metabolism, and recovery. Research outputs are directly linked to commercial and product strategy.

What we did
We were involved from the initial conception of the project, supporting early stakeholder alignment and carrying the work through full design, identity, and experience development. Our role was to help shape a working environment that enabled clear thinking and effective collaboration between category leaders, brand teams, and nutritional scientists.

Outcomes
- Faster and more informed decision-making
- Collaborative working in real time across disciplines
- Clear pathways for new product development
- Showcase facility for PR and Internal events
- Demonstration of category leadership

Purpose
The facility will research strength, stamina, cognition, hydration, metabolism, and recovery, with initial studies focusing on protein’s impact on muscle development, cognition, and bone health.
